The Rest of My Texas Trip and start of Florida

I am continuing my story about my trip to Texas :)

Thursday, we woke up went and ate breakfast with Carter and Chels before heading to Kermit, Texas. We said our good-byes and embarked on the rest of our adventure to see Kermit, Texas which is where my Aunt Clara and Uncle Jack live. We drove across Texas back to Odessa to get a new car. From there we drove another hour to Kermit. We went through a place called Notrees, Texas which I thought was very fitting because there is NOTHING on the drive across West Texas. When we finally get to Aunt Clara's she had a fresh upside-down pineapple cake still warm made for us. It was melt in your mouth great. After we sat and talked a little while they drove me to Jal, New Mexico so I could say that I had been in New Mexico. They took me to see these metal sculptures. When we got there, I got to meet the artist, Brian Norwood, who created the scupltures. He told us about Jal, his artwork, and many interesting stories. Two of the cowboys were actually local farmers, one named Henry Scott and the other names Silvio. It was so neat getting to hear about the process, work, effort and time that went into these beautiful sculptures. When you were driving up to them they look really small; however, once you got up close they were huge
After leaving the statues we drove back to Kermit and Jack drove us around so we could see Kermit. He showed us around the town and had lots of VERY interesting stories. Once we got back to their house, Aunt Clara and Mom cooked supper while Jack showed me the house. Their house is BEAUTIFUL. He had a trunk in his bedroom that his Dad took with him when he first moved to Texas from Oklahoma when OK was still a territory. Jack's father was 5 when they moved to Texas and they went by covered wagon with that trunk. It was really neat to see that. We ate wonderful supper. Let me tell you it was the BEST beef tenderloin I had ever eaten. After that we sat around the fireplace and talked. It was a wonderful visit that lasted too short. I can not wait to go back.

Friday we got up and drove back to Odessa so I could catch my plane. I left on Friday and flew to Houston. I had 10 minutes to catch my flight on a connecting plane. It was so nerve racking. I made and got to Panama City Beach 2. No one else was going to be there until late so I took a taxi(that was the first time in my life) and went to the resort where I was staying. I left my luggage in the lobby then I went to beach. I read a book, walked to the pier and watched the sunset. It was wonderful alone time. Then I got to hang out with my friend Kelli, whom I havent seen in 3 years. We hung out and talked and watched the sunset. I thought it was so cool that I watched the sun rise in Texas and set in Florida. Talk about neat :) Then the leader of CSC UT got to PCB so I went out to eat with her, the campus minister, and a couple of other people. It was good fun and I made some new friends. After that we went back and went to the First session of Gulf Coast Getaway 2011. It was amazing. The whole weekend was amazing(Ill put that in the next post, no worries) I ran into a couple of people I hadnt seen in a few years. It was great. By the time we got back to the room, Bethany and the boys were back so we went to WalMart to buy groceries so we didnt have to eat out for every meal. Walmart is always an adventure. We came back and I met the girls I was staying with for the weekend. B and I talked then we went to sleep :)

Here are the pictures of the sun rising in Texas and Setting in Florida
